A variation on the knucklecurve, the spike curve is a pitch that tricks batters into thinking you've thrown a poor changeup. It is a fast pitch (just a bit slower than your fastball) that breaks late and hard.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Baseball

    How to Throw a Spike Curve

  1. Step 1

    Hold the ball with a 4-Seam Grip.

  2. Step 2

    Tuck your middle and index fingers.

  3. Step 3

    Press the tips of your fingers flat on the ball.

  4. Step 4

    Throw the ball like you're throwing a fastball, just slightly less hard.

Tips & Warnings
  • Do not put any spin on the ball, and avoid snapping your wrist as you release.
