Learn the stunning, sensual salsa dance. Salsa dancing is known as a very romantic dance, and you can seduce your partner through this very colorful and sexy dance. Salsa dancing originated from the mambo and other Cuban dance forms. Learning how to salsa dance can be difficult and intimidating, especially since there are many different variations of salsa dancing. If you start slowly and you follow these basic salsa dance moves, you will be moving in no time.

  1. Step 1

    Face your partner with both feet together. Remember to maintain eye contact with your partner. You cannot seduce without eye contact.

  2. Step 2

    Follow your partner. In salsa dancing the man leads, and the lady follows.

  3. Step 3

    There are 2 basic steps in salsa dancing: The Front Step and The Back Step. Repeating these steps to make 8 steps is a basic salsa dance move.

  4. Step 4

    Lead the ladies, men, as it is the traditional salsa way. Hold your partner close. Give your women subtle love pushes or tugs to help her turn or dip. Take small light steps, you do not want to stomp on your lady's feet. Keep your posture straight but relaxed. Men's Steps: Tap your foot and hold the beat.Take a small step forward with your left foot.Rock back slightly onto your right foot.Step back one small step again with your left foot.Hold the beat.Step one small step back with the right foot.Rock forward slightly with your left foot.Step one small step forward with your right foot.Repeat the step.

  5. Step 5

    Allow the men to lead you, ladies. Hold your partner close. Keep your posture straight, but relaxed and graceful. Take small steps and rock back and forth gently. Lady's Steps:Tap your foot and hold the beat.Step one small step back with your right foot.Rock gently forward onto your left foot.Step one small step forward with your right foot.Hold the beat.Step one small step forward with your left foot.Rock back gently onto your right foot.Step one small step back with your left foot.Repeat the step.

Tips & Warnings
  • Have fun. Learning how to salsa dance can be difficult, but it is all about having fun.
  • Perform salsa dancing on the balls of your feet.
  • Slowly work your way up to the more difficult moves, and enjoy dancing the basics.
  • Be aware of your space when salsa dancing. Dancing across the whole floor is often only for salsa show performances.
  • Be careful not to over-exaggerate your hip movements; it is suppose to come naturally.
