Step 1

Find a blogging platform with services you like, such as Wordpress, or Blogspot. You can create a free account, and then go from there,
Step 2

Find a niche. Find something that users will want to read about, and start writing. Do some keyword research, and make your content search engine friendly.
Step 3

Sign up with Adsense, and other affiliate programs that will earn you money.
Step 4

Get a readership by letting others know about your blog, through message boards, email signatures, etc. Make sure that you leave comments on other blogs, and ask for link exchanges.
Step 5

Keep your audience pleased by keeping your content frequent (at least 3-5 times a week), and good. Interact with your readers!

Tips & Warnings

Make sure you optimize your content for search engines based on popular searches for your niche.
Check out popular blogging websites for other tips and tricks.
Keep your blogs meaningful, or you'll lose readership. Do not spam. Do not use duplicate content or you will get blacklisted.

on 7/11/2008 Great advice! Question about the warning: duplicate content as in duplicating content from other blogs, previous entries of your own blog, or posting the same entry on a couple blogs?
