Rag blankets make wonderful gifts for baby showers. They are fun and easy to make and will be a much loved addition to any child's collection of keepsakes. One important step in making a rag blanket is fraying the edges. This is probably the most time consuming portion of creating a rag blanket.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Sewn rag blanket
  • Scissors for fraying
  1. Step 1

Lay out your blanket on a flat work surface with the raw edges out.

  2. Step 2

Hold the raw edges together and clip around each square. Be sure not to clip all the way to the seams. You want to leave at least 1/4 inch from the seam to the end of the cut for proper fraying.

  3. Step 3

Make each of the clips around the square approximately 1/2 inch apart.

  4. Step 4

Continue clipping until all of the raw edges are cut.

  5. Step 5

Throw the blanket into the washing machine to fray the edges for the desired effect. This will fray the edges and you will be good to go.

Tips & Warnings
  • Take your time. Your patience will be rewarded with a properly frayed rag blanket.
  • Make sure not to make your cuts so deep that you cut into the seams.
