Tai Chi has become increasingly popular in recent years. This ancient technique uses a number of different movements to increase flexibility and mobility, while also tightening and strengthening the muscles in the body. There are a number of different movements used in Tai Chi, but one of the most basic is the high-to-low hand exercise. This is one of the first moves a student learns and something that anyone can do at home.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Stand with fyour eet hip-width apart and your hands clasped in front of you. You’ll want your hands to be touching but not intertwined.

  2. Step 2

Lift your hands above your head as you take a deep breath. Make this movement as slow as possible to increase circulation.

  3. Step 3

Touch your hands together and slowly bring them down in front of you. Keep your eyes straight in front of you as you exhale and lower your hands.

  4. Step 4

Inhale as you raise your hands again and exhale as you lower them in front. As you continue the high-low movement, increase the speed of your movements.

  5. Step 5

Repeat for 60 seconds to warm up your body and increase the mobility in your arms and upper body.
