How to Do a Flip Through Wrist Catch With Nunchucks

Martial arts require a great level of control and balance, and those things all come into play when doing the flip-through-the-wrist catch with nunchucks. You need to keep a clear eye on the nunchucks as they’re flying through the air and also balance them carefully on your hands. This is one of the easier moves to try when first starting out in martial arts. With a little practice, you can look like an expert.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Nunchucks
  1. Step 1

Hold your dominant hand out in front of you, curled over the bottom half of the nunchucks. The piece you're holding and the second half of the nunchucks should form a 90-degree angle.

  2. Step 2

Spin the nunchucks using the middle and pointer finger of your dominant hand. It may take some practice to learn how to control and balance the nunchucks on your fingers.

  3. Step 3

Throw the nunchucks into the air in a complete spin and catch them again with your dominant hand. As long as the nunchucks flip in the air, you’re doing it right. They may not spin completely the first few times you try this.

  4. Step 4

Practice throwing the nunchucks higher and higher each time you try this. Before long, you’ll look like a professional.

Tips & Warnings
  • The more you practice this move, the more comfortable you’ll feel throwing the nunchucks higher and faster.
