How to Make Yogurt Cake

Eating yogurt has many benefits. It is very helpful to gastrointestinal health, the immune system and it lowers cholesterol. Here we will explain how to make a yummy yogurt cake that is also low in fat.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • - For the filling:
  • * 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • * 1/3 sliced toasted almonds
  • * 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • - For the cake:
  • * 6 tbsp. melted butter
  • * 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • * 2 beaten large eggs
  • * 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • * 3/4 cup plain lowfat yogurt
  • * 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • * 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 2 tbsp. confectioner's sugar
  • - Utensils:
  • * baking pan
  • * measuring cups
  • * 3 mixing bowls
  • * mixing spoon
  • * oven mittens

    Mixing the ingredients.

  1. Step 1

    Make sure butter is melted.

  2. Step 2

    Preheat the oven to 325 degrees.

  3. Step 3

    Butter the surface of the baking pan.

  4. Step 4

    In one of the mixing bowls combine brown sugar, sliced nuts and cinnamon and set aside.

  5. Step 5

    In the other mixing bowl beat together the butter, granulated sugar, eggs, vanilla and yogurt.

  6. Step 6

    On the third bowl, mix flour, baking powder and soda.

  7. Step 7

    Add the yogurt and egg mixture to the third bowl and stir until everything is well blended.

  8. Filling the mold and baking.

  9. Step 1

    Pour about 12 tbsps. of the batter into the baking pan.

  10. Step 2

    Add the brown sugar mix to the pan evenly.

  11. Step 3

    Fill evenly the rest of the batter into the pan.

  12. Step 4

    Bake for 25 to 30 minutes or until the cake is firm to the touch and the edges are brown and can be pulled away from the sides of the pan.

  13. Step 5

    Cool for 5 minutes in the pan.

  14. Step 6

    Turn upside down so the cake slips out from the pan.

  15. Step 7

    If desired, lightly dust with the confectioner's sugar before serving.
