Do the Half Roll Over Spin Soccer Move

The half roll over spin soccer move is a great way to get around an opponent or shake off a challenger on the soccer field when you are in possession of the ball. This move is both a body fake and a ball trick. It's often used by forwards working to get around opposing players to score a goal. The play looks involved at first, but a little practice will make you a pro. Here's how to do the half roll over spin soccer move.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Dribble the ball close to your feet as a defender approaches or you near an opposing player. Begin the move when you are too tight to get around the other player or are challenged for the ball.

  2. Step 2

Step lightly on the ball with your leading foot and roll it over. Roll the ball half way around and then pull it back with the same foot.

  3. Step 3

Switch directions as you bring the ball back in the opposite direction that you rolled it, swinging your hips around to follow the momentum of the ball. Your body should turn around, away from the opposing player, in a quick fluid motion.

  4. Step 4

Dribble quickly toward the goal or, if close enough, take a shot on goal. The other team's goalie may be caught off guard by your quick change in direction, so shoot quickly and accurately for the best chance at scoring.

Tips & Warnings
  • If your back is in the general direction of the other team's goal, do the move to spin around and face the goal.
  • Do not try this move too close to your own goal as a small error may result in a goal for the other team.
