How Tie a Headscarf in the Dutch Crown Style

  1. Step 1

First, lay the rectangular scarf evenly over the middle of your head, allowing the ends of the scarf to fall over your shoulders at even lengths.

  2. Step 2

Gently twist the two hanging ends of the scarf as you hold them between your fingers so the twist doesn’t fall out.

  3. Step 3

Now bring both ends forward over the top of your head, creating a band and tie them once, just above your hairline.

  4. Step 4

Tuck the two tails of the scarf over and under the band you created, alternately.

  5. Step 5

Tuck the two ends securely into the band.

Tips & Warnings
  • This style works best with a lighter fabric, like silk. Because most of the weight of the scarf is wrapped around the head, you don’t want a heavier scarf such as velvet which may be uncomfortable or too warm.
