If you have not noticed, all of the professional drummers have nice and straight posture. Become a pro drummer fast by picking up these posture and balance tips.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Drum set
  • Drumsticks
  • Drum stool

Step1
Sit up straight. That is the key in having the correct drumming posture. It is really simple but true. When you start to slouch, tell yourself to sit up straight. Hold your abs tight and sit up straight. After sitting up straight more it will become easier and your back will thank you.
Step2
Check your drum stool to make sure it is at the right height. Make sure when you are sitting on the stool with your feet on the foot pedals, with your knees forming about a 90-degree angle. Slightly droop your thighs down toward the knees. Distribute your weight evenly upon your feet.
Step3
Keep your balance while playing the drums by having a drum stool that fits you properly and by sitting up straight.
Step4
Relax your hands, arms and wrists. Having total balance throughout your body will help you to play better.

Tips & Warnings

  • Stretch and warm up your wrists and arms before and after you play.
  • Do not lean or hunch forward.
