Things You'll Need:
- Hair color removal product
-
Step 1
Blot with a towel. Using a cloth or paper towel, lightly dab the stain to remove the color that has remained on the surface of your clothes. Be careful not to press too hard or rub.
-
Step 2
Wet the stain with water. Run the stained section of the clothing under the faucet. Saturate the stain with water.
-
Step 3
Apply a hair color remover product. There are a wide variety of products designed specifically for removing hair color, but some of these are made for removing color from the skin or hard surfaces like sinks. Look for a product with instructions that specifically mention removing hair color from clothing. These products can be found at beauty supply stores or online. If you have difficulty locating the product, ask your hairdresser.
-
Step 4
Agitate. Use a brush or a rough sponge or cloth to rub the product into the stain thoroughly for about one minute.
-
Step 5
Blot with a towel again. Use a clean towel to dab off the hair color removal product from the fabric.
-
Step 6
Rinse. You can rinse the item in the sink or washing machine. You may want to add detergent at this point because many hair color removal products have an unpleasant smell.
