Maybe you zipped past a toll booth not knowing you were in the I-PASS lane or just didn't have the money to pay the toll. Here are a few simple steps to make a payment online.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Location of the toll booth where you missed your toll payment
  • The time that you missed your toll payment
  • The lane you were in when you missed your toll payment
  • The date that you missed your toll payment
  • Registered owner's name
  • Registered owner's license plate number and ID number
  • Registered owner's state where the license is registered
  • Valid credit card (American Express, Visa, MasterCard or Discover)

How to Pay for a Missed Toll in Illinois

  1. Step 1

Visit www.illinoistollway.com, and enter the registered owner's information (i.e., name, address, phone number and email address).

  2. Step 2

On the next page, enter the registered owner's car information (i.e., license plate type, vehicle type, license plate number and state where the license was issued).

  3. Step 3

Enter the information about where the toll payment was missed (i.e., plaza location, missed toll date, approximate time, lane and direction). If you do not know where the plaza location is, click on the digital map to find your location. You can elect to have it mailed to you, but the delay may slow down your seven-day window to pay.

  4. Step 4

On the next page, you will be asked to verify the information and total. If this total is incorrect, click "Previous" to look at the map and make sure your location is accurate.

  5. Step 5

If you don't owe any other missed toll payments, click "Continue" and use your credit card to make a payment. If you have additional missed toll payments, click "Add Another Toll."

  6. Step 6

Print and keep the receipt on file in case you receive information in the mail about missed toll payments or tickets. If you decide to mail in your payment, your cashed check will be your receipt, so check your online banking account regularly or make a copy of the check before you mail it to Illinois Tollway, ATTN: Cash Handling Division, 2700 Ogden Avenue, Downers Grove, IL 60515.
