The Southern Screw cocktail is a variation on the class "Screw Driver" It is a Southern concoction that utilizes the delicious Southern product known as Southern Comfort. Any way you pour it, this drink is just plain amazing.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • * 3 ounces of orange-flavored vodka
  • * 3 ounces of 100-proof Southern Comfort
  • * 6 ounces of fresh-squeezed orange juice
  • * 1 dash of triple sec
  • * Ice
  • * 1 tall glass (pint glass or collins glass will do nicely)
  • * 1 slice of orange (optional)

How to Mix Up Your Own Southern Screw

  1. Step 1

Fill your glass about 1/3 full of ice. You don't want to add as much ice to this cocktail as you would to most drinks because doing so might water down your orange juice and throw off the Southern Screw's flavor.

  2. Step 2

Add the Southern Comfort and orange-flavored vodka.

  3. Step 3

    Add the fresh-squeezed orange juice.

  4. Step 4

    Stir to combine ingredients thoroughly.

  5. Step 5

Top the drink with a dash or two of triple sec.

  6. Step 6

Garnish with a slice of orange if desired.

Tips & Warnings
  • * If you don't like the pulp associated with fresh-squeezed orange juice then it's acceptable to replace it with orange juice from concentrate.
  • * Make sure to add the vodka and Southern Comfort to your Southern Screw before adding other ingredients. This will ensure that the alcoholic ingredients get plenty of time to chill before being mixed with the already-chilled orange juice. Thus, the drink won't separate after being mixed.
  • * Don't replace the Southern Comfort with whiskey. The result will taste nothing like a Southern Screw.
  • * Do not use too much ice. Remember, you can always add more ice to the drink if you need to, but it's much more difficult to remove ice you've already added.
