Things You'll Need:
- One-gallon can
- Oregano seedling
- Trowel or spade
-
Step 1
Prepare the soil in your desired location by working organic matter into the soil. Oregano loves sunlight and will thrive in a sunny location that receives at least 6 hours of direct light each day.
-
Step 2
Cut both ends off a one-gallon can. Ask your local restaurant or grocery store to save these for you. Fruits and vegetables designed for commercial use are preserved in these cans. Most restaurants will be happy to save one for you.
-
Step 3
Insert the can into the soil until the rim is even with the soil level.
-
Step 4
Fill the can part way with soil and plant the oregano plant inside the can. Fill the remaining space with soil and tamp down. The can will act as a barrier preventing roots from spreading to other areas of your garden.
-
Step 5
Remove blooms as soon as they have faded. Do not let them go to seed. These tiny seeds will spread easily and new plants will take root.
