The University of Michigan is a great place to party. Ann Arbor is truly a college town with a lot to offer. Here is what you need to know to have a great time.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Gather your friends and prepare yourself for a night on the town. Shower, get dressed and wear comfortable shoes, because depending on your starting point you might be walking a few blocks.

  2. Step 2

Choose your destination. If you are a college student or in your early 20's, I'd suggest South University Avenue. There are several bars on this street, such as Good Time Charley's, The Brown Jug, Touchdown's, and Mitch's. Also, Rick's, a popular Thursday-night spot, is close by. If you're a bit older, then you might want to go to Main Street, where there are plenty of cool bars for a slightly older crowd.

  3. Step 3

Dress appropriately. Ann Arbor can be uncomfortably cold during the winter months, so you definitely want to wear a lot of layers. In the early fall, spring, and summer, however, dress however you'd like. Most bars in Ann Arbor do not have dress codes.

  4. Step 4

Once you are ready to go out, maximize your fun by hitting up several bars. South University has several bars very close to one another, so it's possible to go to three or four within a couple hours and still spend a reasonable amount of time at each.

  5. Step 5

If you and your friends like to dance, go to Rick's. If they like to smoke, go to Mitch's. Conversely, if you DON'T like these things, it would be unwise to go to these bars, although Mitch's has some great beer specials that are hard to pass up.

  6. Step 6

Have fun! Ann Arbor is a great town and it's hard not to have a good time, especially on a football weekend. There's nothing like a Friday night in Ann Arbor before a big game.
