Here are a few things that you can do to help lower your risk of prostate cancer — and a few speculatory methods that may help as well.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

    DO NOT SMOKE:

Smoking leads to prostate Cancer. My grandpa died of prostate cancer, and it was directly related to his smoking.

  2. Step 2

    DO NOT OVERCONSUME ALCOHOL:

Drink alcohol in moderation. Guys really should not consume more than two drinks a day. Anything over this amount is excessive and harmful. It is also wise not to binge drink when out with friends.

  3. Step 3

    DO NOT OVER-EAT:

Eat moderate-sized portions of meals and keep your calories under control.

  4. Step 4

    AVOID HIGH-FAT FOODS:

Prostate cancer rates appear highest among people that tend to eat a lot of high-fat foods. A diet high in saturated fats (such as animal fats found in red meat) pose the greatest risks.

  5. Step 5

    EAT MORE WHOLE GRAINS:

Whole-grain foods such as brown rice and whole-wheat bread instead of heavily processed carbohydrates. It is also important to limit your intake of artificial sweets and excess salt.

  6. Step 6

    EAT FRUITS AND VEGETABLES:

A diet high in fruits and vegetables has been linked to a lower risk of various kinds of cancer's. Lycopene — an antioxidant found in tomatoes —has been under speculation for its ability to lower prostate cancer risk, but eating plenty of all kinds of vegetables, including tomatoes, may help ward off prostate cancer and other cancers.

  7. Step 7

    CONSUME OMEGA-3 FATTY ACIDS:

While a diet high in most kinds of fat is linked to a higher risk of cancer and other health problems, Omega-3 fatty acids — a type of fat found in cold-water fish such as salmon, herring and mackerel — appear to reduce the risk of certain cancers.

  8. Step 8

    CONSUME PHYTOESTROGENS:

Soybeans and other legumes contain phytoestrogens, which are plant-based chemicals that behave like the hormone estrogen in the human body. These chemicals might help to prevent prostate cancer.

  9. Step 9

    TAKE ANTIOXIDANTS:

Antioxidant such as poly phenols found in green tea and pomegranate juice are extremely helpful for destroying free radicals in the body and helping to prevent cancer.
