How to Warm Facial Tones with Makeup

  1. Step 1
    Liquid Foundation
    Liquid Foundation

Decide which foundation shades are right for your face. Foundation comes in a multitude of shades, so find one that looks most natural. Liquid foundation that has a yellow base is best for warming skin tones and looking natural on most people, however, anyone with fair skin might try one that is pink based. Test out shades at a store by applying a small amount to the jawline, blending in to make sure that it is the same color as the face and neck.

  2. Step 2
    Foundation brush

Apply your foundation once you have found the right shade. Whether it is liquid or compact , you will need a foundation sponge or brush. Dot the foundation on the cheeks, chin, nose and forehead and blend outwards using light strokes.

  3. Step 3
    Under eye concealer

Apply concealer to under eye circles, areas of redness, or other discolorations and blemishes. Using a light-diffusing concealer on under eye circles can brighten the skin and camouflage dark areas. Yellow tinted concealers also work great when warming up the skin tones, and counteracting the redness of the skin.

  4. Step 4
    Bronzing Powder
    Bronzing Powder

After applying the foundation and the concealer, set it in place with powder. You can use a bronzing powder to give your skin a healthy glow, and apply it with a big, fluffy powder brush. As opposed to other face powders, only apply bronzing powder to areas that are naturally hit with light, like the forehead, chin and cheekbones. Iridescent powder is an all-over face powder which has light-reflecting ingredients that can make the skin shimmer. Apply this powder with the same type of brush, all over the face.

  5. Step 5
    Cream Blush

Add some color with blush. Use your natural color to determine which blush would look best, since it is supposed to be sheer and add just a hint of color. Rose or apricot shades look the most warm, but may not look right on everyone. Cream blushes are best to use, since they are easy to apply and look most natural. Dab small dots of the cream onto the apples of the cheeks, and blend into the skin using a circular motion.

Tips & Warnings
  • Test different colors in the store to find the right shade of makeup
  • Avoid applying too much makeup--the more natural, the better
