Things You'll Need:
- Frosting Kit or Highlighting kit (purchase at store)
- Towel
- Shampoo
- Conditioner
- Comb or Brush
-
Step 1
Place the cap on your head with your hair in the fashion you normally wear it.
-
Step 2
Pulling your hair through the holes in the cap is going to determine how many or how few highlights or low-lights your hair ends up with. Also the number of hairs pulled through is going to determine the same thing. Start pulling your hair through the holes in the cap with the hook provided in your kit. If you want a lot of tiny highlights or low-lights for a less noticeable effect, then pull only a few strands through every other hole. This is totally a matter of personal choice.
-
Step 3
Begin your coloring in an area that is most resistant to color removal. This is usually the crown of the head. Put your coloring solution on your entire head of hair. Wait for a half an hour or however long is indicated on your coloring kit. Check in on it occasionally to make sure it is not being left on too long.
-
Step 4
Once you have achieved the shade of highlights or low-lights you desire, rinse your hair with the cap on. Once the solution is removed from the hair, the hair will come back through the holes in the cap easier. Remove the cap, and wash your hair as usual.
-
Step 5
Toning your highlighted or low-lighted hair can be done after hair is towel dried if you so desire. Of course you would want a color that would compliment your natural color.
