Things You'll Need:

  • Mop

  • Toothbrush
  • Chlorine-Free Household Cleaner
  • Vinegar
  • Nylon Scrubbing Pad

    Cleaning Your Kitchen Tile

  1. Step 1

Cleaning a tile floor isn’t very difficult. As your regular tile cleaning, take a damp mop and simply wash off the surface of your tile. This needs to be done at least once a week to keep your tile looking great.

  2. Step 2

When your tile has stains, you will need to be a little more aggressive in your cleaning. To remove stains on the actual tile, you will want to use a nylon scrubbing pad and chlorine-free household cleaner. Place the cleaner directly on the stain and wait at least 30 seconds so the cleaner can dampen the stain. In a circular motion, scrub the stain out of the tile.

  3. Step 3

It is inevitable that you will have to clean the grout of your tile floor. To do this, take a toothbrush as well as non-chlorine cleaner and place the cleaner directly onto the grout. With the toothbrush, simply scrub until the grout is clean.

  4. Step 4

To remove really stubborn stains, mixing equal parts of vinegar and water will effectively remove sticky stains, as well as offensive odors.

  5. Step 5

For really stubborn stains, apply the vinegar and water mixture, followed by the non-chlorine cleaner. Use the toothbrush and scrub in circles. You may have to scrub for at least three-to-five minutes before the stain will be removed from the tile surface.

Tips & Warnings
  • Make sure you always test a floor cleaner on a small spot that is out of sight before cleaning your entire floor. This will ensure there will be no adverse reactions from the cleaner on your tile.
