Speaking at a trade show is a great way to gain credibility in your field, make a ton of new contacts and gain publicity for your business. Speaking opportunities can be tough to land but are well worth the effort to do so.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • List of trade shows
  • A speaking proposal
  1. Step 1

Make a list of your top-tier desired trade shows. Make a list of second- and third-tier shows as well.

  2. Step 2

Visit the websites of your desired trade shows. Look for sections such as "Call for Speakers" or "Speaking Opportunities."

  3. Step 3

Read carefully the requirements for the speaking engagement. Each show will have its own guidelines.

  4. Step 4

Prepare a proposal specific to each event. You will want an engaging topic that many people attending the show would be interested in. Be sure to have detailed information on your desired speaker and topics. Always edit your proposals carefully.

  5. Step 5

Submit your proposal through the website or to the specific contact person. Make sure to have a specific person to address correspondence to, and spell their names right! Wait an appropriate amount of time and follow up if you have not heard back.
