Picking what shades of silver to wear is easy. Discover how wearing flawless silver eyeshadow doesn't have to be limited to models and starlets with private makeup artists. Silver need not be just the same old boring sparkly gray from olden days, either.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Eyeshadow primer or base
  • Flat eyeshadow brush
  • Small fluffy blending eyeshadow brush
  • Highly-pigmented smoky silver eyeshadow
  • Icy silver eyeshadow
  • Rosy silver eyeshadow
  • Flesh-toned silver eyeshadow
  • Makeup sponge
  • Everyday foundation
  1. Step 1

Make sure that eyelids are ready for makeup application. They should be clean, dry and free from yesterday's leftover makeup. Apply eyeshadow primer onto entire eyelid.

  2. Step 2

Using the flat eyeshadow brush, stroke on the smoky silver eyeshadow from your lash line to slightly above the crease. The highly-pigmented shadow is your base color. Make sure that the silver is more of a fine subtle shimmer rather than chunky, like glitter.

  3. Step 3
    Iced silver

Press the icy silver eyeshadow onto the center of your eyelid. With a fluffy eyeshadow brush, blend away any hard edges so that the icy silver fades into the smoky silver. Now the darker shadow creates definition, while the lighter one adds contrast, giving the appearance of depth to your eye makeup.

  4. Step 4
    Rosy silver

Smooth on the rosy silver eyeshadow on the area above the crease just underneath the browbone. For this region, your goal is to give a natural glow that mimics the color of when blood rushes to the surface of your skin. Silver on its own will appear too cold and metal-like.

  5. Step 5
Flesh tones can be silvery, too

Brush the flesh-toned silver eyeshadow onto your browbone to highlight and polish your eye makeup. Dab some on the inner corners of your eyes as well to open them up and make them seem bigger and brighter.

  6. Step 6

Clean off your blending eyeshadow brush and lightly sweep over entire lid to make colors appear seamless. Apply some of your everyday foundation underneath your eyes. With a clean makeup sponge, smooth the foundation upwards and outwards all the way past the outer corners of your eyes. This blots out any eyeshadow that fell onto your undereye area. Blend away the foundation's hard edges so that it appears to disappear into your skin. Now your eyes are all set for a night on the town. Tone shades down accordingly or blend a little bit more if you are going out in the daytime.

Tips & Warnings
  • As it is on the neutral side, silver can easily look good on anyone. The secret to making it work is to select silvers that aren't pure, as these can appear too chalky or chunky if worn alone; instead, select soft silvers that are blended with other colors that flatter your individual coloring.
  • You can also wear silver as an accent to black or smoky eye makeup.
  • Make sure that except for the icy and flesh-toned silver eyeshadows, you select those which have a light and not extremely obvious shimmer to them. You don't want to go overboard on metallics.
  • Feel free to change or adjust the intensity of each color for the given areas of your eyelid, depending on your personal preferences and what most flatters your coloring.
  • Take care that your brows are immaculately groomed and filled in for more attractive eyes and a more gorgeous look overall.
  • Apply eyeliner and mascara, preferably in black, to finish off your eye makeup. You may want to use dark brown mascara if your coloring is light.
