Things You'll Need:
- Disposable Paper
- Wax
- Wax Heater
- Wax Remover
- Small Disposable spatula or wooden applicators
- Fabric strips for hair removal
- Headband
- Draping towel
- Skin cleanser
- Antiseptic Lotion
-
Step 1
Gather all materials needed. Some of the materials come with the waxing kit, others will have to be purchased separately. Set up your work space so all the materials are close at hand.
-
Step 2
Begin by melting the wax in the heater. The length of time required depends on how full the wax holder is. This will take anywhere from 10 to 20 minutes. Place the headband on your hair to keep your hair out of the way of the waxing procedure. Drape a towel over the front of your clothing to protect the clothing from accidental dripping of the wax.
-
Step 3
Remove any makeup you may have on and cleanse the area thoroughly with a mild cleanser (usually included in a waxing kit) then pat dry. You may want to use a solution of witch hazel and water to apply to the skin before applying the wax. Test the temperature of the wax by applying a small drop on your wrist as if you were testing the temperature of your baby's bottle. It should be warm but not hot and it should run smoothly off of the spatula.
-
Step 4
Spread a thin coat using the spatula or wooden applicator to the area where the hair is to be removed being careful not get it on an area you don't want the hair removed from. Apply a fabric strip over the wax and press gently in the direction of the hair growth, running your finger over the fabric area 3 to 5 times.
-
Step 5
Quickly remove the fabric strip by pulling in the opposite direction that the hair grows, and applying pressure to the skin in order to hold the skin taut. Do not pull straight up on the fabric. Lightly massage the treated area. Remove any wax remaining with the wax remover and then apply an antiseptic lotion to the area. Repeat the process as needed, then move to the other eyebrow, repeating process again.
