How to Make Time For Yourself As A New Mom

Everyone knows that becoming a new mom is one of the most life-changing events that can ever happen to a woman. Motherhood is a non-stop job with no breaks or vacation time. It is imperative that you fill yourself up from time to time. Doing this can include finding some time alone. Here's how to do it.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy
Step1
Find 15 minutes. Even a few short minutes a day uninterrupted can do wonders for your soul.
Step2
Breathe. Take your fifteen minutes and simply breathe. Don't think about all the things that need to be done. This is your time.
Step3
Run an errand. Even dreaded errands such as grocery shopping, bill paying, or laundry folding can become blissful when done alone.
Step4
Find help. If you are lucky enough to have family close by that is willing to help, by all means call on them!
Step5
Seek out a mother's helper. There are plenty of high school-aged kids who love working with small children and will gladly help you in your home. While they are playing with your children, take a nap, read a good book or, again, simply breathe.

Tips & Warnings

  • The crucial time for mommy support is when baby first comes home. Get all the help you can muster! You'll thank yourself for it later on.
  • Don't get stressed out about making time for yourself. Relax and ask for help.
