How to Tell if Someone is Pregnant

One of the life's most awkward moments occurs when you ask a woman when she is due and find out she is not pregnant. To prevent this from happening, there are a few things you can do to determine if she is pregnant before asking. Physical attributes are not the only indication of pregnancy. This is a guide you can use to tell if someone is pregnant without having to ask.

1. Glance at her breasts. Pregnant women tend to have larger breasts, even very early in pregnancy.

2. Check to see if she is drinking any alcohol or smoking cigarettes. While some women still smoke and drink during pregnancy, it is just a very small percentage.

3. Observe her conversations and mannerisms. Pregnant women tend to have mood swings and become frustrated easily.

4. Check her belly to see if it has grown. If she looks like she has gained weight in other places, and not particularly the tummy, it could be a sign of an earlier pregnancy.

5. View her clothing selection. Pregnant women in the early stages tend to wear baggy clothing. Further along in pregnancy, women wear maternity pants and shirts. A typical maternity shirt has a tie or cinch right below the breasts. This is called an empire waist.
