Things You'll Need:
-
Step 1
Go over dating do's and don'ts with your daughter long before the boy picks her up. Make sure she understands what is expected of her and what she shouldn't do when she's out of your supervision.
-
Step 2
Ask your daughter the details on the date. Find out who she is going with, where they are going and make sure she understands that she still needs to be home by curfew.
-
Step 3
Meet the boy when he comes to pick your daughter up for the date. Ask him the same questions and tell him when he is expected to bring your daughter home.
-
Step 4
Give your daughter some money if she doesn't have any of her own. This way, she is not financially dependent on her date. You can also give her a cell phone in case she needs to contact you for any reason. Explain to her that if she feels uncomfortable in any way then you will pick her up without any questions.
-
Step 5
Ask your daughter to check in with you at a certain time. This should just be a quick phone call to know that everything is alright and she is where she is supposed to be. Let her know that you're available at any time during the night if she needs to call.
-
Step 6
Stay up and wait for your daughter to return home. This may be a good moment to ask how the date went and let her tell you about the boy. Not all daughters will be comfortable telling you information, but it won't hurt to show interest.
