Things You'll Need:
- Worm
- Hook
- Fishing pole
- Disposable gloves (optional)
-
Step 1
Secure the hook the fishing line.
-
Step 2
If you wish, put on thin, disposable gloves. This will keep your skin from touching the bait, which some people prefer. Also, it keeps the bait from absorbing chemicals from your hands.
-
Step 3
One end of the worm will have a smooth bump extending all the way around its body; this is the clitellum. Pierce the worm with the hook just below the clitellum.
-
Step 4
Continue the thread the worm onto the hook, into a continuing loose S-like shape for the length of the worm.
-
Step 5
Allow enough of the worm to hang off the hook so that it can move and maintain a look of life that is appealing to fish, while being sure that the bulk of the worm is secured so that it does not come loose either in the water or when you are casting.
-
Step 6
The hook is now baited. Gently cast it into the water and wait for a bite.
