Things You'll Need:
- Basket
- Towel
- Gifts
- Cellophane
- Ribbon
-
Step 1
Purchase your basket. This can be any color or size, although neutral-colored or red baskets work best for Italian themed gift baskets.
-
Step 2
Buy a brightly-colored dish or tea towel to line your basket. Choose something inspired by the red, white and green of the Italian flag, or if you can find one, a towel with a map of Italy. Scenes of an Italian restaurant or some other appropriate design are appropriate too.
-
Step 3
Go shopping! Think creatively when it comes to finding fun gifts. Food stores--both gourmet shops and regular supermarkets--are good sources for bottles of olive oil, boxes of difficult-to-find Italian ingredients or even pasta shapes and other food-related gifts. Wedges of good Italian cheese are readily available and make great additions, as does a bottle of Italian wine.
-
Step 4
Include some non-edible gifts. Wooden spoons, Italian music, books, or a small Italian flag are all possibilities, depending on your recipient. Local gift boutiques and online retailers are other good sources of unique gifts.
-
Step 5
Place the tea towel in the bowl of the basket, allowing some of the towel to spill decoratively over the sides. Arrange the gifts in the basket, padding with shredded paper or tissue paper as necessary. The gifts should fit together tightly enough that they don't shift when you pick up the basket.
-
Step 6
Place the basket in the middle of a large piece of cellophane. Bring the sides of the cellophane together at the top of the basket. Tie with red, green and white ribbon.
