How to Do Pre-solo and Solo Flights in Aviation School

Aviation is an enterprising dream in this country, and it has been for over a century. If you grew up with the dream, or even if you discovered it later in life, there will be few things as fulfilling as doing your first solo flights in aviation school. Here you'll find out how to get the most of them.

    Finding an Instructor and Airport

  1. Step 1

    Locate a good flight school at your local airport. Check the condition of the planes, the maintenance and the history of the school. Ask the instructors about their history. Find out if they committed to instructing you with professionalism and dedicated to seeing you become a safe and efficient pilot. This is all part of the prelude to flying on your own.

  2. Step 2

    Study for the Private Pilot Certificate, the license you will need to fly solo. Learning the information for the test will give you insight into the rules, regulations, navigation, communication and aviation skills that are all components in your path to pre-solo and solo. The important information your instructor gives you on the ground will all make sense when you take to the sky.

  3. Step 3

    Fly as frequently as possible. Handle the radios as well. The communication with the controllers and other aviators will be tough at first, but you will soon find that you have mastered the skill.

  4. Step 4

    Build confidence is your skills. The day will come when you will be required to demonstrate that you can fly alone. At this point, your confidence and your skills will give your instructor the ability to sign you off for solo flight.

  5. Step 5

    Fly! All is in order, and you are ready to flights in aviation school.
