How to do the Hip Hop Grind

  1. Step 1

First you have to have a partner. The female should stand in front, and the male should stand in back.

  2. Step 2

Point your pelvis forward, or bend backwards depending on your role in the dance. So the female or individual in the front would bend backwards, and the male or individual in the back would point his pelvis forward. Make sure that your body parts make contact because you will feed off of your partners energy, and their body against yours will help you stabilize in this awkward position.

  3. Step 3

Swirl your hips in a circular motion.

  4. Step 4

Apply pressure to the body of your partner. The female usually leads the motion and the male feels the rhythm and goes with the flow of the circular motion.

  5. Step 5

Make sure that you are moving with the beat and tempo of the music. Lose yourself in the moment, and improvise as you grind.

Tips & Warnings
  • Do this dance with a willing partner.
  • The male partner could have a bodily reaction if things get too intense.
