How to Make Your Own Cuticle Oil

Taking care of your cuticles is essential to good nail and hand health. Cuticles are the small creases of thin skin at the base of the nails. Keeping cuticles moisturized with a special blend of oils will prevent tears in the skin that might cause infection. Cuticle oil is simple to make.   • 2 oz. empty glass dropper bottle
  • 1/2 oz. light olive oil
  • 1/2 oz. macadamia nut oil
  • 1/2 oz. jojoba oil
  • 1/2 oz. apricot kernel oil
  • Lavender, tea tree or rosemary essential oil

      Pour light olive oil, macadamia nut oil, jojoba oil and apricot kernel oil in an empty glass dropper bottle.

      Add a few drops of chosen essential oil. Lavendar, rosemary and tea tree oil all have a soothing effect as well as anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties.

      Screw the bottle top on and shake the bottle gently.

      To use cuticle oil, apply one drop to the base of each fingernail on one hand. Using the other hand, massage oil into each cuticle individually, using gentle circular motion. Switch hands. Wait 15 minutes, or until the oil feels absorbed into the cuticles.

Tips & Warnings

  • For problem cuticles, try applying oil and wearing light cotton gloves overnight. In the morning you will have super moisturized cuticles!
