How to Make Foot Scrub

Things You'll Need

  • 2/3 cup coarse sea salt or sugar
  • 1 cup coconut, almond, olive, or jojoba oil
  • Foot file or pumice stone
  • Bathtub, foot bath or container to soak feet
  • Mild anti-bacterial liquid soap
  • Mint leaves
  • Essential oil of your choice
  • Towel

      Pour salt or sugar in bowl and then add oil of your choice. Add a few drops of essential oil, if desired. Set aside. If you use coconut oil or almond oil, remember these oils have a scent, so you might want to choose an essential oil that complements it. Essential oils have different properties.       Fill foot bath, tub or container with warm water and a few squirts of gentle, antibacterial soap. Bruise the mint leaves by rubbing them together, to release the oils. Place the leaves in water. Mint is invigorating and will give your foot bath a cooling effect. If no mint leaves are available, add a few drops of peppermint essential oil to the water. Be sure to place foot scrub close to the foot bath.

      Soak feet for at least ten minutes. This will soften hard skin, so it will come off easily with the scrub. Soaking will also help relax tense muscles in your feet and remove dirt.

      Take one foot out of the water. Gather bowl of foot scrub. Using your fingers, scoop out a small amount scrub, and gently rub it on your foot. Go gentle on the sensitive parts of your foot and use a little more pressure on rough areas like heels and the side of your feet. Scrubbing your feet should feel pleasurable. For extra tough spots, use a pumice stone with the scrub. Switch feet.

      Using your hands, rub feet under water to remove any remaining scrub. Remove and pat dry with a towel. Enjoy your sparkling and invigorated feet.

Tips & Warnings

  • Any remaining foot scrub may be kept in a sealed container for up to two months.

  • Don't use scrub if you have broken skin on your feet.

  • If you are allergic to any of the ingredients, do not use.
