Draw a Turkey

There are many ways to draw a turkey. It doesn't even have to be a good looking turkey -- but as long as it includes its famous features, it's a turkey. The simplest way to draw a turkey, is to use your hand. It's not only easy for adults, but it's fun for kids.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Paper
  • Pencil
  • Construction paper (optional)
  • Eraser
  • Flat surface
  • Colored markers (optional)
  • Scissors (optional)
  • Glue (optional)

Draw a Turkey with your Hand

  1. Step 1

Put a piece of paper and pencil on a flat surface.

  2. Step 2

Place your hand firmly on the paper with your fingers spread apart.

  3. Step 3

    Trace your hand.

  4. Step 4

Draw a line between the base of the thumb and pinky finger to connect the lines.

  5. Step 5

Turkeys have legs and feet similar to that of a duck. Draw that on the bottom. Don't forget to include the spur. That's the little spike above the back of each foot.

  6. Step 6

The outline of your thumb will become the turkey's head. The outline of your fingers will serve as the turkey's feathers.

  7. Step 7

In the upper tip of the thumb, draw a small circle. That will be the eye of the turkey.

  8. Step 8

On the outside of the thumb, draw a beak.

  9. Step 9

On the top of the beak, draw the snood. That's the red flap of skin that hangs over it's beak.

  10. Step 10

Draw the wattle. That is the bright red skin that dangles from a turkey's neck.

  11. Step 11

To add some glamour, use construction paper to make feathers. You can glue these over the outline of your fingers. Use markers to color in your turkey.

Tips & Warnings
  • Use a pencil first, so if you mess up you can erase the lines.
  • For a twist, trace around your foot, which will serve as the body and feathers. You'll have to draw the head seperately.
  • Make sure an adult supervises children who want to use scissors to cut out feathers.
