High fives are said to have originated back in 1850 in the play "Among Combatants." National High Five Day occurs on the third Thursday of every April, so there is always plenty of time to learn numerous high fives to show off. Many people think that high fives are just to celebrate. The Kitchen Door High Five proves those people wrong. If you are looking to learn a high five greeting that you can share with your close friends, the Kitchen Door High Five is the way to go.

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 Friend

    Do Kitchen Door High Fives

  1. Step 1

Hold your hand out at your side. This will let your friend know you are about to attempt the Kitchen Door High Five.

  2. Step 2

Slap your friend's hand. This should be a horizontal slap. The tip of your fingers should come into contact with your friend's palm, and vice-versa.

  3. Step 3

Continue the motion that you have going to continue past your friend's hand.

  4. Step 4

Stop about a foot past your friend's hand (your friend should do the same). The back of you and your friend's hands should now be facing each other.

  5. Step 5

Slap the back of your friend's hand with the back of your hand. This completes the Kitchen Door High five, A.K.A. the front to back high five.

Tips & Warnings
  • This is a greeting high five, not a celebratory high five.
  • Make sure your friend knows to do the Kitchen Door High Five. If he/she isn't, and you overcommit, you end up looking silly in front of people.
