Wine can take on many different faces and many different tastes. One that often goes overlooked is the scent of flowers. Floral aromas in wine are beautiful and elegant. These steps teach you ways to find these scents.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Swirl the wine to let it breathe and open up all of the hidden aromas. Generally, when using the proper wine glass, the flower aroma is found toward the top of the wine glass.

  2. Step 2

Give your wine a good smell and look for the scent of a bouquet or the smell you get when you walk into a flower shop. Remember when smelling your wine to have your nose close to the glass, if not in the glass. Take a full, deep inhale.

  3. Step 3

Still can't find it? Smell for perfume. Many perfumes have the scent of flowers, and this may be a more simple way to find the floral aroma.

  4. Step 4

Try to find specific aromas if you are more seasoned at smelling wines. Stay near the top of the glass. Certain aromas commonly found in wine are roses and lavender. These are beautiful aromas commonly overlooked when tasting wine.

Tips & Warnings
  • It is easier to find floral aromas in white or sparkling wines than in red wines.
