How to Bleach Clothes White

We all have whites that aren't white any longer due to stains and dirt. if you have kids or work at a restaurant, you know just how difficult it can be to keep the white in an outfit. Here's an easy way to bleach those clothes white again.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

• Bleach
• Laundry Detergent
• Washing Machine

1. 

   Wash soiled white clothes as soon as possible to prevent stains from setting in. If that's not possible, place garment in a clean sink. Soak it with warm water and detergent.

2. 

   Place clothes in washer, fill with warm water and add detergent. Let agitate for 3/4 of the washing cycle then add bleach. Putting bleach in with the laundry soap will render the soap useless. The soap needs time to do its work and loosen the dirt. Add 1 cup of bleach to a quart of water, then pour into washer. The quart of water dilutes the bleach so you won't pour straight bleach right onto clothes.

3. 

   Allow washer to complete it's cycle.

4. Check the clothes. If they are not white enough, repeat. The second time allow only a quarter of the wash time for detergent alone before adding bleach. Clothes should be clean and white. If not, soak the soiled whites in a mixture of 1/8 cup bleach to 1 quart of water.

5. Soak until stains come out and rinse thoroughly, then wash as usual.

Tips & Warnings

• Remember that adding bleach will deactivate your detergent.
• Once garment is wet, do not let dry until you are satisfied with the results.
• There are occasions when very used or older clothes will not become white again.
• Do not add more bleach than instructions recommend because too much can weaken clothing fibers.
