How to Use Cheesy Pickup Lines

Breaking the ice with a cheesy pickup line (hopefully) encourages a laugh or two. Your line can be funny, vulgar or corny--whatever works for you. Just keep you head up and a smile on your face when you approach someone with a cheesy line!

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Speak with confidence and stop laughing. Whether you're actually trying to pick up a date or just having some fun, the whole thing will go smoother if you can keep a straight face.

  2. Step 2

Use cheesy pickup lines on acquaintances and friends for better results. Most strangers will be offended or think you're crazy if you are actually trying to use a line to get a date. Then again, you may just find that one in a million that appreciates your humor and will follow through with a conversation. Basically, humorous pick up lines only work on people with a sense of humor.

  3. Step 3

Keep an arsenal of cheesy lines at your disposal. You never want to hear someone hear you repeating the same line you just used on a friend. Keep each pickup original and fun.

  4. Step 4

Add some character to your opener and be energetic. Let the person know you are being funny, and don't actually believe the line will work on its own. Add a wink, funny expressions or even a humorous voice. In short, make it funny, not boring and lifeless. Have fun!

  5. Step 5

Make eye contact. Whether you are using a line or not, your opener will work better if you actually make eye contact as you speak. Nobody appreciates someone staring at their breasts or looking at someone else. If someone wants to talk or date, meaning he or she is attracted to you, any opener will work, whether its completely cheesy, totally lame or perfectly serious.

  6. Step 6

Follow up with something more serious before the person can walk away. Introduce yourself, ask the person's name or at least say "just kidding" before moving on with a conversation. Don't offer to buy the person a drink until after he or she is actually speaking to you. A cheesy come-on immediately followed by an offer for a drink will usually result in rejection. Worse, you may buy the drink and then find yourself alone!

  7. Step 7

Take it all in stride. Some people will get it, and some will absolutely not.

Tips & Warnings
  • As you drink more, cheesy pickup lines seem like a better idea and you're more likely to use them. Luckily, if you're drunk, you won't feel the slap or the sting of rejection quite so much.
  • Use corny humor at your own risk!
