From Quick Guide: Jewelry Cleaning Guide
Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Take a plastic bucket, and line the bottom with aluminum foil. Pour hot water into the bucket. Add a cup of baking soda into the hot water, lay your silver jewelry into the water, and let stand. Rinse the pieces and allow to dry.

  2. Step 2

Put jewelry into shallow bowl, and add water, along with one alka-seltzer tablet. Let this stand for 5 minutes. Rinse and wipe until dry.

  3. Step 3

Place straight white vinegar onto a soft cloth and wipe jewelry.

  4. Step 4

Grease and body oils can be removed by dipping it into plain rubbing alcohol. Use an old toothbrush to help remove dirt in small places on each piece.

  5. Step 5

Gem stones and Pearls have different care needs than gold or silver jewelry with diamonds. Colored gemstones do not like the sunlight, this will change their colors. Pearls do not like any chemicals. So to clean pearls simply use lukewarm water and gently wipe them off.

Tips & Warnings
  • Keep a consistent, weekly cleaning process. It's easier to take it in small steps.
  • Never use a toothbrush on gem stones or pearls.
