When you want to create a healthy, green lawn, it may be necessary to apply chemicals such as herbicides and insecticides once or twice during the spring and summer months. Depending on your lawn's needs, you can purchase pre-mix sprayers or direct mix sprayers to evenly distribute chemicals on your lawn. Both are easy to use and can help your lawn look its best.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Hose-end lawn sprayer
  • Lawn chemicals
  1. Step 1

Purchase a hose-end lawn sprayer because they are easy to operate. Two types are available: pre-mix sprayers and direct mix sprayers.

  2. Step 2

Use a pre-mix sprayer for mixing powered chemicals, but be aware that you will not be able to regulate the concentration of chemicals. Follow the instructions on the package to determine how much water to mix with lawn chemicals. Mix water and lawn chemicals in the sprayer bottle and attach it to a hose.

  3. Step 3

Use a direct mix sprayer to give you more control over the amount of concentrated chemicals you want to use on your lawn. Add concentrated lawn chemical to the sprayer. Determine the amount you want to use by adjusting the dial on the sprayer. After making your adjustments, connect the sprayer to a hose and turn on the water. You will be able to adjust the stream as you spray as well.

  4. Step 4

Store any unused lawn chemicals in a cool, dry place that is out of reach from children and pets.

Tips & Warnings
  • Determine the type of lawn you have before purchasing lawn chemicals.
  • Never mix lawn chemicals or lawn fertilizer in your lawn sprayer.
