Fish skin has been neglected by many, but it is a very tasty part of the fish. Much as chicken skin is a tasty part of the chicken, so is the skin of the fish. Knowing the proper way to cook it is key to determining its flavor.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Frying pan
  • Oil
  • Fish skin
  • Knife
  • Fork or spoon
  • Salt
  • Pepper

    How to Cook Fish Skin

  1. Step 1

    Using a metal utensil such as a scaler, fork or spoon, remove the excess fish scales from the skin as best as possible.

  2. Step 2

    Use a paring knife or other fillet knife to remove the skin from the fish's body.

  3. Step 3

    Season the fish skin with salt and pepper.

  4. Step 4

    Heat up some cooking oil in a skillet.

  5. Step 5

    Fry the fish skin on medium high heat until it becomes crispy.

  6. Step 6

    Remove the skin from the heat and place it on paper towels to drain the oil.

Tips & Warnings
  • Pat the fish skin dry.
  • You can also choose to broil the fish skin if you do not want to use oil.
  • Pat the fish skin dry, as water mixed with hot oil will cause the oil to bubble and splatter.
