Proper maintenance of a Jacuzzi is important. Sadly, some Jacuzzi owners neglect routine maintenance. As a result, they expose themselves to bacteria and germs. Maintaining a Jacuzzi isn’t difficult. However, it’s a tedious task. Owners have to monitor the chemical levels, and regular cleanings are essential. Those who stick to a maintenance schedule can enjoy a soothing, germ-free Jacuzzi.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Store the chemical instructions for your jacuzzi in a safe place. After the initial setup, jacuzzi owners have to add about 12 different chemicals to the water. To ensure proper measurement of each chemical, retain the instructions.

  2. Step 2

Check the water’s chemical content each week. It is important for jacuzzi owners to regularly monitor the chemical level. Low levels are dangerous because bacteria can develop in the water. Add chemicals as needed.

  3. Step 3

Filter the jacuzzi for at least three hours each day. To keep the jacuzzi hot tub clean and mildew-free, run the filter on low for three hours each day.

  4. Step 4

Conduct a water test before using the jacuzzi. Aside from weekly chemical checks, it doesn’t hurt to test the water before each use. This extra precaution ensures a healthy chemical level.

  5. Step 5

Clean the filter at least once a month. Using a water hose, clean and sanitize the filter about every four weeks.

  6. Step 6

Cover the Jacuzzi after every use. Most jacuzzis are kept outdoors. To prevent debris from getting in the water, place the cover on the hot tub every night.

  7. Step 7

Sanitize the jacuzzi cover once a month. Although the cover effectively blocks debris and trash, these items may settle on top of the cover. Keep the cover clean and wipe it down monthly.

  8. Step 8

Drain the jacuzzi every three months. The water chemicals and filter keep the jacuzzi clean and safe. Still, it’s a good idea to drain and refill the water every twelve weeks.

Tips & Warnings
  • Try to stay on top of daily maintenance so that it all doesn't pile up on you. A dirty, dangerous jacuzzi is no fun.
  • Don't forget to filter the jacuzzi every single day!
