How to Do a New Moon Manifestation Ritual

The new moon is an optimal time to set new intentions. Like newly planted seeds, your dreams need a period of gestation to grow roots before they can sprout in the light of the full moon. A new moon ritual is a powerful way to harness the power and mystery of the new moon for manifesting newness in your life. The new moon is the lunar phase when the moon is between the earth and the sun. So, the dark potion of the moon faces the earth and the moon is not visible from earth. This is a very auspicious time to “plant” new intentions. Utilizing this fertile energy will synchronize you with the larger creative forces of the universe. During the ritual you will enter a fully awake dream time. So tailor it to your comfort by filling the space with objects, colors and fragrances that you love. There is no right or wrong way to create this ceremony.

Instructions

  1. New Moon Manifestation Ritual

    • 1

During the night or day of the new moon, set up your ritual space. Create a special altar on a sturdy surface. Place each object with a specific intention. For instance, when placing the candle, ask the element of balanced fire to be present.; and place a sea shell on your altar and ask for the powers of water to be present; place a stone and intend to fill the space with unconditional love. It's important to represent each of the four elements of air, earth, water and fire on your altar. When the elements are balanced, the energy will flow freely and your ritual will be more effective.

    • 2

Open the ritual by lighting the candle. Burn incense or other herbs in the space if you wish. Breathe deeply for a few moments and focus, or meditate if you wish. Ask yourself: "What do I want to create in my life?"

    • 3

Call in any spirit guides, angels, ascended masters (such as Jesus) or the four elements or directions (east, west, north, south) for support, if you desire.

    • 4

Write down your intentions, as many as you wish. Note that intentions should always be written in the positive. For instance, instead of "I don't want," use "I want" or "I am." Read each intention out loud as you finish.

    • 5

Flip through the magazines and cut out images that portray your intentions, goals and dreams. Paste them to the poster board. Collaging is a powerful manifestation tool, because it adds a visual element to your intentions. You might want to paste your written intentions on the poster board as well.

    • 6

Move at your own pace and focus on your collaging. Be in each moment. Aligning your energy with the mysterious new moon requires that you connect with your natural rhythm. Also, listen carefully for any messages that Spirit is giving you. These messages could come in the form of feelings, thoughts or through a sort of "sixth sense." Pay attention!

    • 7

When finished, review your intentions and collage. Allow yourself to release any emotions that you are feeling. Take deep breaths.

    • 8

Close your ritual any way you want. You may read a poem, say a prayer or remain in silence. Extinguish the candle.

Tips & Warnings

  • This is your ceremony, so there is no right or wrong way to create it. What matters is the focus and intent behind the ritual. Focus on love!

  • Place or hang your collage in a place where you can see it daily. This will keep your intentions fresh in your mind.
