If you love the great taste of salmon, but you don't want to be bothered with the heat of oven-cooking or all the smoke from grilling, pan-frying is an excellent alternative! Not only is it quick, but clean up is a snap! This guide will show you how to pan-fry or "sear" salmon.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Let the salmon warm to room temperature 10 minutes before cooking.

  2. Step 2

Add the oil and pre-heat a medium-sized skillet over medium-low heat.

  3. Step 3

Season the salmon steaks with salt and pepper.

  4. Step 4

Raise the skillet temperature to medium-high.

  5. Step 5

Place the salmon into the pan skin side up. Cook for approximately 4 to 5 minutes.

  6. Step 6

Turn the salmon over and cook for approximately 3 minutes more. The skin will be crisp and the salmon will feel firm.

  7. Step 7

Once the salmon has finished cooking, transfer to a plate and serve.
