Things You'll Need:
- 36 playing pieces (stones, coins, acorns, or any other small object)
- 14 containers
- A small board (optional)
- Whittling knife or gauge (optional)
-
Step 1
First, gather 36 playing pieces of any kind such as stones, coins, seeds, or even small gems if you are feeling luxurious.
-
Step 2
Mark two rows of 6 containers (called "pits"). You can use cups or simply draw out areas on a sheet of paper or on the ground.
-
Step 3
Mark one larger pit on each end called the "cala."
-
Step 4
If you want a more traditional set, carve the pits and cala out of a small board, using a whittling knife or a gauge to create the depressions.
-
Step 5
Place 3 pieces in each pit, leaving the calas empty.
