Pickled fish can typically be found in Southern states in comparison to the Northern states. However, that’s not to say that some northerners don’t make pickled fish. If you are looking for a quick and easy recipe, try this one out. Does this Spark an idea?

Things You'll Need

  • 2 qt. fish
  • 1/2 cup salt
  • 1 qt. vinegar
  • 1/2 qt. water
  • 2 cups vinegar
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 tsp. pickling spice
  • 1 cup Silver Satin Wine
  • Jars
  • Knife
  • Cutting board

Instructions

    • 1

      Take the 2 quarts of fish and slice them into bite-sized chunks. Rinse them in water after slicing.

      Soak the fish in 1/2 cup of salt, 2 cups of vinegar, and 1/2 quart of water for five days in the refrigerator.

      Drain the fish and rinse them off. Layer one section of fish followed by one layer of onions until almost full.

      Combine 2 cups of vinegar, 2 cups of sugar, 1 teaspoon of pickling spices and 1 cup of Silver Satin Wine into a bowl. Do not cook the mixture. Pour mixture into jars of fish and onions.

      Let the jars stand for five days before consuming.
