Self defense is an important aspect in life. Anyone can become a victim at any time. Knowing how to defend yourself is key to surviving in the real world. If someone attacks you with a knife, it is always good to know tactics that can help you get the knife away from them and put you in control. The following will teach you just how to do this.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Practice

Defend Against a Knife Held to the Trachea

  1. Step 1

Give yourself a trigger word. If you're going to say "You can have anything you want" to the attacker, you could make "you" your trigger word, when you take action. Any word will work, it just prepares you somewhat to take action.

  2. Step 2

Get your hands up in a surrender position. This will relax your attacker, and put you in position to defend yourself.

  3. Step 3

Quickly move your hand (the hand on the side of your attacker's attacking hand) to their wrist. Simutaneously move your other hand to the crook of their elbow.

  4. Step 4

Press down on their wrist with your arm and press their wrist into your body. Also press down onto the crook of their elbow with your arm. You want to make sure you bend their wrist so that the blade is no longer touching your throat. As you press down into the crook of their elbow, they will be thrown off balance and their head will move down and closer to you.

  5. Step 5

Choose which move to make next. You can headbutt your opponent when their head comes in close. You can also kick them in the groin. Either way, you will be inflicting damage. If it is a male attacker, the groin is a sure bet.

  6. Step 6

Now take the hand you were using in the crook of your opponent's elbow and go for the knife. Push on the back of the blade, pinch down on the knife, and pull it away from your attacker. You can now move away from your opponent and fight back with the knife if necessary.

Tips & Warnings
  • You will most likely be cut, so make sure to practice this maneuver at home before it happens to you in real life. You will want to make sure you are fully prepared so any injuries sustained are not disasterous.
