Step 1
Look for comfort. Before trying on the shoe, feel the inside to see what type of comfort you will have. Press down on the sole and the inside of the shoe to see how much cushion there is. If it is very thin, it could mean less comfort and/or less longevity.
-
Step 2
Find the right size. Wear socks when trying on shoes. It may sound obvious, but some people do try on shoes without socks. Wear the socks that would normally be worn when running. Keep in mind, that the shoe may fit a little looser once it is worn a few times. If the shoe is too tight with socks on, try a half size up.
-
Step 3
Select a shoe that has proper support. Try the shoe on and walk around to ensure that it has good support and balance as well as a comfortable fit.
-
Step 4
Choose a style that fits the athletic wear that will be worn. If the shoe has comfort, proper support and fits just right, the last thing to keep in mind is matching the rest of the running gear

Step 5
Shop for a better price. If you find the perfect shoe after trying it on in the store, see if you can find it for a lower price at another store or online.
