Step 1
Space your studying over several days. For large exams such as midterms or finals, several weeks are likely going to be needed. Cramming the night before will not help and will add to your test anxiety. Review in small doses and then increase gradually as the weeks progress. You'll be surprised at how quickly things start to come back to you.
-
Step 2
Read the directions thoroughly. It is amazing how many students fail to do this and start straight in on the questions. This leaves one vulnerable to mistakes. It also wastes time as questions may have to be re-done. Read through the directions, making sure you understand.
-
Step 3
Look at the style of the questions. Get the ones that you know, or feel most comfortable with out of the way first. Once you have finished then go back and attempt the others. Pace yourself well. Don't spend to much time in any one area. Running out of time half way through the test will not help you pass.
-
Step 4
Don't panic when you see questions that you do not know. Simply skip them and return later. Make sure you concentrate on what you do know, and don't fret over questions you can't answer.
-
Step 5
Get a good night's sleep before the test. Many educational psychologists claim that you shouldn't even study at all the night before. Relax and enjoy yourself. If you must study then just review keep points. If you don't know it now then your not likely going to learn it overnight.
