Everyone knows how expensive fatigued and damaged jeans are. Some people will pay over $100 dollars for holey jeans. Others simply wait until their jeans have been worn out to have jeans that are holey. It is possible, however, to make your own holey jeans. Putting holes in jeans can be a little risky, but can be well worth the risk in the long run. By being careful and precise, you can have cheap, holey designer jeans in no time.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Pencil or washable marker
  • Scissors
  • Razor blade
  1. Step 1

Put on the jeans. Wearing the jeans while determining where to make the holes is the best way to make sure you are happy with the end result. Take the pencil or washable marker and mark exactly where you want to put the holes. Making holey jeans is all about where you put the holes.

  2. Step 2

Take off the jeans! If you keep the jeans on, you risk cutting yourself with the razor blade.

  3. Step 3

If you want to have holes that keep the white strands in the hole, follow this step. Grab your razorblade, and carefully fray and slice, strand by strand, the area that you have marked off. Using the razorblade, cut off the blue strands, separating them from the white stands and leaving a holey look.

  4. Step 4

If you want to have the more dramatic, wide open holes, follow this step. Take the razor blade and slice the center of where you would like your hole to be. Take the scissors and, using the hole, cut out the spot that you would like to have a hole. Take the razorblade to fray the edges of the hole to enhance the holey look.

  5. Step 5

To finish the job, wash the jeans to see and understand how the holes look to determine if the jeans are holey enough for your liking.

Tips & Warnings
  • Start slow! You can always add holes, but you cannot take them away.
  • Making huge, gaping holes will shorten the life span of the jeans shrink. These holes will grow.
  • Always take off the jeans before cutting.
  • Be careful while using the razor blade.
