How to Cook Large Shrimp
Shrimp are one of the easiest foods to cook if you pay careful attention to the amount of time they are under heat or over a flame. Large shrimp are great for skewering because you can stab them easily without having the shrimp break into pieces. Things You'll Need
- Large shrimp, 30 to 40 ct. to feed 4 to 6 people
- Metal skewers
- One red and one green bell pepper
- Large vidalia onion
- 4 tbsp. garlic powder
- Two small bowls
- Two large bowls
- 2 tbsp. lemon pepper seasoning
- Grill or grill top on a stove
- 2 tbsp.sea salt
- Fresh ground black pepper
- Olive oil
- Basting brush
- Chopping board
- Serving tray

Start your grill. Clean the shrimp by removing the head, feet, skin and vein in that order. Leave the tail on. Put them into a large bowl.

Mix garlic powder and lemon pepper into a small bowl. Mix sea salt and fresh ground black pepper into another bowl. Set them aside.

Cut up bell pepper and onions into 2 x 2-inch pieces and put them into a large bowl. They don't have to be perfectly shaped, but triangular shapes work best. You will want to cut enough pieces to put at least two of each bell pepper and two onion pieces on the skewer.

Using the basting brush, coat the shrimp lightly with olive oil. This will keep them from sticking to the grill.

Sprinkle the salt and pepper mix lightly over the vegetables; sprinkle the garlic powder and lemon pepper mix onto the shrimp.Skewer the shrimp and vegetables by alternating a vegetable piece and shrimp piece on each skewer until you can't fit anymore on them. It is best to put the shrimp into a "U" shape and then skewer them.

Place the skewers on the grill and watch them carefully. It doesn't usually take more than five minutes over a well-heated grill for them to cook. As soon as the shrimp turn pick, remove them and place on a serving tray. Any minute longer and you risk eating rubbery shrimp.

Grilled ears of corn are best served with large shrimp.
Make sure there are no seeds on your bell peppers.
Be sure to keep any open flames at least 25 feet away from your house.
