Know that when your mustache touches the top of your lip or below, it's time to trim it. Maintaining a clean looking mustache is important when you want to achieve a professional, well-kept look.

Use a mustache comb and brush the hairs of your mustache down. This will uncover overgrown or uneven hairs.

Start at one end and gently clip off uneven or overgrown pieces of hair using a pair of mustache scissors. Make sure that you follow the natural line of your mustache in order to preserve its shape.

Trim the sides and bottom of your handlebar mustache, then trim long or uneven hairs found in the body of your mustache.

Use a razor to touch up the top of your mustache. Be careful not to cut too much off the top as this will ruin the shape. Use your mustache comb to brush your mustache once more to make sure you trimmed each section properly.
